The Spectrum Of Wood

Updated: Feb 4

My sculptures use a variety of wood to create a diverse range of tones. I find success in this because wood is naturally pleasing, but the hues remain subtle. I am now trying to intentionally choose colors for my sculptures; no longer relying on nature's beauty. Through this new color palette, I will express different emotions and allusions from the mythologies and stories my abstract sculptures narrate.

Color and Wood Grain Test Blocks

Above is an image of test blocks I created using a torch and diluted interior paint. The torch darkened the wood grain while the paint tints in between.

My next step will be to make sculptures with a monochrome palette.

What colors would you like to see?
